After update to Android 9 mobile transfer is not working correctly

Yesterday I updated my XZ1 Compact to Android 9. Today I noticed that while using mobile transfer I can only use Facebook or Instagram (both in app and browser). Other apps and websites do not work. I installed new Internet settings from Orange Poland, but it did not help. Ane ideas how to solve this problem?

In my situation it occured that settings from Orange were wrong. Instead of having username internet I've got internetipv6. I've changed it and now everything works fine.

My settings now:

NAME: Orange Internet
APN: internet
Username: internet
Password: internet
Authentication type: PAP
APN type: default,sup
APN protocol IPv4/IPv6

Unfortunately i dont have a solution  am only posting to declare that i have the same issue. Can call people, text messages ok, WiFi great. Mobile data is dead since the update last night. I don't really want to repair the software using the companion software.

Hi,

I managed to workaround the problem. I'm not sure if this is a problem of operator configuration for mobile data or Android 9. I created new APN configuration manually, so you need to find apn configuration of your operator. In my case it is NJU (Orange). I have still problems with MMS but I don't this feature.

Hi,

I found solution for this. This is because Orange set's automatically connection type to IPv6. It should be IPv4. Below solution (in polish), just make a new connection in Cellural Networks tab:

Nazwa: (dowolna) 
APN: internet 
proxy: nie ustawiono 
port: nie ustawiono 
Nazwa użytkownika: nie ustawiono 
Hasło: nie ustawiono 
MMSC: nie ustawiono 
MMS Proxy: nie ustawiono 
Port MMS: nie ustawiono 
MCC: 260 
MNC: 03 
Typ uwierzytelniania: PAP 
Typ APN: default,supl 
Protokół APN: IPv4 
Protokół roamingu APN: IPv4

Good call, VV8!

This resolved the problem for me.

1) google apn settings for your phone (at least brand), carrier, country

2) input the apn settings 

3) important: restart phone

4) there was much rejoicing

I also have a problem with mobile data connection on Xperia ZX1 Compact (G8441) after recent update to Android 9.

Some applications can connect to the internet:

- Google maps

- Messanger

- Facebook

- Whats up

While some other apps cannot connect:

- Chrome

- Business Insider

- Endomondo

- Accuweather

- Spotify

- and many more local apps

All apps work fine when connected to WIFI.

  

Any advice?
