Z5C Skype mic / headset audio input stops when phone gets hot

When using Skype video call the phone gets hotter and when it reaches 45 degc (battery temp) the person on the other end of the call can't hear me. My audio input is no longer being picked up.

Happens with either mic or headset use.

Typically takes around 10 mins before this happens, from cold (30 degc) start.

If I exit call and then reconnect the audio works fine again for a short period (1 to 2 mins) of time but will then stop again. If I let the phone cool then audio will work ok on next call for longer, until phone heats up again then it stops.

I spoke with Skype technical support and they are blaming the phone.

Have I got a dud phone or are others having same issue?

@Foxmart

Does the camera stop working as well?

No. Camera continues normally. Person at other end tells me they can no longer hear me. 100% repeatable, happens every time.

@Foxmart

could you test recording a video when the mic stops working to see if the mic works?

also settings > about phone > diagnostics > test the mic

I can't record video whilst running Skype, it says microphone is in use.

If I switch from Skype to Sound Meter app it works correctly.

As soon as I end Skype call the mic appears to be working ok but will then fail again sometime into next call.

The hotter the phone the quicker it stops working.

I'll try the 'test the mic' suggestion later today.

What you describe is that its an app issue not a phone issue.

and Skype tell me it's a phone issue .. so all that does is leave with frustrated.

I'm going to have to take it back, get a refund and buy something else that works.

A simple way to test it, make video calls with other apps, if you don't encounter the same issue, then you'll know that's an app issue, but think about it, microsoft admitting that their app is not working properly?

What I'm looking for is other people with this model phone to report similar issues or to tell me theirs works fine. If the latter then it points to a specific issue with my handset.

The idea of posting here is for others to say 'me too'. If no one does over the course of next few weeks then I'll swap handset.

People are not going to come to this forum if it's working ok.
