Z5 DSEE HX & Equalizer can't be used together?

I met the guy who bought Xperia Z5 recently.

He complains about the Equalizer, that can't be used with DSEE HX.

Without DSEE HX, he could hear so much white noise, but with equalizer, white noise goes away, but can't use equalizer.

I know that Xperia phone with DSEE HX (ex. Z2, Z3, Z3+, ...) can use both DSEE HX and Equalizer at the same time. But Z5 doesn't.

Is this Z5's functional fault and can be fixed with new firmware someday?

@Sony Support: Indeed. Please could you clarify since the settings on the Z4 Tablet are different. I would like to have it work like it did on the good old Z3 days 🙂

I just purchased a Z5 Compact (E5823) and noticed something related with the DSEE HX... No white noise, but every time I set up the DSEE HX the output volume in my earphones goes way down! Have to turn the volume almost to the maximum and still not the same volume level without the DSEE HX... My earphones are the MDR-NC31EM, have been using them with my Z3 Compact without any issues... Anyone else? Any recommendations?

I know what you mean. As soon as I select Dsee Hx the sound is almost halved. So I thought I'd have a play...

I just tried it with Dsee Hx off and the sound volume dropped as expected. I went into 'Headphone Settings' and turned off 'Automatic Optimisation'. I then switched Dsee Hx on and the volume didn't drop. In fact I had a lovely rich sound with slightly more volume.

Here's the wierd bit, now when I switch on/off Dsee Hx with Automatic Optimisation on or off it doesn't do the nearly half volume thing?

Worth a try?

Sorry I meant 'Sound Effects' not Headphone Settings

I am using Z5 Premium and hope Sony can relook into both DSEE HX and ClearAudio+ functions. First of all, if you switch it on, volume will reduce by 50% from headset. (I am using MDR-NC750). It made both functions unusable. If the idea is not to optimize these two function on Xperia, why have them there in the first place? Sony built its name on the success of Walkman, so to gain an advantage over other phones, I believe creating a wow factor by really enhancing these functions would give Xperia an edge.

If there are certain restraints that prohibited the full optimization of these functions, than I hope Sony could come up with a better program to incorporate both functions as one.

I have bluetooth earbuds and tried both DSEE and Clearaudio+ settings on my Z5C.

From my testing, these settings affect only the sound output thru the Sony Music app. I also installed PowerAmp and selecting DSEE or Clearaudio+ didn't seem to affect the sound from PowerAmp at all.

I find my sound output from PowerAmp vastly superior to the Sony Music app.  With a 10 band EQ reaching down to 31Hz, preamp gain, my music sounds way fuller. With the Sony Music app, there was so little bass, I thought I had bought crappy bluetooth ears buds.  No... PowerAmp pumps out a full bass sound thru the same buds.

As well, I find the UX of the Sony app lacking...

When I was using the Sony music app, I found Clearaudio+ to be a more pleasant improvement to my ears than DSEE.
