Did you try a different charger or USB cable? Just to make sure it's not a physical problem.
I agree with Quester that you should try another charger. And also, are you trying to charge your phone via USB-port or the wall socket?
Glad to hear that it's now working! 
Hard to say what the cause can be. Perhaps you can contact your Local support to see if you can easily submit your charger to a service center so it can be examined.
