phone app does not search by letters in contact names

Hello, I have a very frustrating issue with my z1 compact. When I am trying to call someone in the phone app it doesn't search contacts based on their names but only based on their phone numbers. For example if I press the key 6 three consequent times it will display only contacts that their phone number contain "666“. It won't show however the contact "Mona" based on the corresponding letters of the keypad (MNO). This practically means I have to remember all my contacts numbers by heart if I wish to call them! Please please help!

Had the same problem, seems to have solved it by searching for link canditates in the contacts app (Google, WhatApp, Skype, etc.), meaybe worth a try?

Also have the same problem. Did anyone find how to fix it? All the contacts are linked together

Have you tried force stop & clear cache on Contacts and Dialer?

I've got the same problem, although i can search older contacts but for some time if I add anyone new, I can only find  him by phone number.

Does anybody know the solution for the problem?
