Z5 compact Headphones doesn't work headset does

I just bought my Z5 compact yesterday. This morning I found that when I inserted my headphones (the big ones) that the phone doesn't respond to them (they are HyperX cloud-II). So i tried some other headphones which gave the same result. I went down to the store to get it fixed and he tested the phone with an in-ear headset which worked perfectly fine.

Tried with my headphones again when I came home but it still doesn't work. Anyone who can help me? - I'm out of ideas and not that fond of in-ear headsets

Thanks for helping.

Repair the phone with Sony PC Companion.

But also boot on safe mode and check if you experience the same problem.

well it worked with the shops headset(the in-ears) and I hadn't cleaned it in the meantime

Still doesn't work in safe mode Slightly_frowning_Face - I have no clue what is happening.

I can't think of anything other than the headset since the shops in-ears worked. But the headset should work.

I tested my headset in my old iphone 4s and my computer and it works fine through that

In case it still doesn't work, please make sure that you have the microphone plugged in to your headset. As i understand it, this headset has a removable microphone. As it's a 4-pin jack, the phone will expect there to be a microphone on it so if that's removed, it may not work.

It is exactly as rickard said, I own a cloud 2 myself and a z5c. If you plug the mic in, the headset will be recognised. I myself hacked myself a dummy, I soldered a small resistor from the dataring to the gndring and then plugged it into the mic port, works a treat!

My headphones jack doesn't work either it picks up and disconnects every few seconds I had spoke with Sony on chat who said they would send me email details about sending it back to them to see if it is a manufacturer issue which it clearly is but this was a week ago and never got the email from them, any help would be much appreciated
