Z5 camera black screen

Hi everyone,

I just got my phone back from repair. After less than a month the camera would open to a black screen and after clearing data and cache it didn't fix it.

Before sending it for repair, I did a backup with the PC companion that I saw suggested in the support forum, now I'm wondering, if I restore the backup I did, what's the chances of the camera issue coming back?

You need to figure out if the problem is hardware or software related, repair the phone with PCC and test it again.

software repair

PC Companion (PCC)

Bridge (for Mac)

It was my carrier that sent it in for repair, they didn't specify when I picked it up. I'm hesitant on doing another reset, because when I did last time, once it gets to the google account part of the set up I could not get past it, even I'd put the right google account info, it would say it was wrong.

Is it possible to just partially restore part of the backup? I just really want to get the photos back.

Well, you can check the backup or restore the pictures and what not, but you don't need PCC to backup the pictures, videos, etc

This is what I found written in the paperwork when I got the phone back....

Repair details
Problem reported: camera
Problem found: other camera/video /picture problem
Repair outcome: the device has been repaired
Description of the work: water test GSM phone + software update + screening

Should I not do the restore from the backup done before sent in for repair?

Hi,

sounds like You have same problem I did. Check thread here from the forum: LINK

In my case it was hardware problem, so I think You can restore data without any problems.

Thanks everyone. I was able to just retrieve the images.

But...

The camera has a black screen again. I have cleared the cache and restarted etc but it's still not working. It says camera and video have unfortunately stopped.

Why does it keep happening??
Could it be a defective phone?

Sounds like the same error messages I got with my faulty camera unit Slightly_frowning_Face

Carrier sent it back for repair for a second time. Hopefully it gets fixed this time. Will they replace the phone if it happens again?

Thanks for the help.
