my new Z5 only 5 days old has been running out of juice within 8 hours of light use.
battery stamina is on.
screen brightness only 14%
emails sync every hour instead of push
gmail on push
what could the problem be? the software updated when i was setting up the phone last week but apart from that same setting as my Z2 which can last slightly more than a day on same setting..
Hello everyone
I got a new xperia z5 about 14 days ago and i would say i am disappointed in the battery life. I have currently used it for a very basic use (email, social media, youtube, games, calls and messaging) and get at max 3.5 hrs screen on time and 11 hrs of stand by time. In total the phone is dead with in 10-12 hrs of 100% charge with minimum use. The battery estimates that i have 20hrs of battery time available but its never done that. I have always charged it to 100% and then drained it completely before recharging it.
i am also attaching some screen shots of the most recent useage and its even more disappointing.
No auto sync active,
no location service active,
cell standby is using more battery than anything else which shows how rarely i have used the device.
please suggest me if i can fix this some how or if the battery is faulty
thanks
so there is no solution to it???
@uliwooly : u can see the screenshots here
@XpZ001, mate you are missing a quite important screenshot.
Charge your phone to 100%, let it drain and then make the same three screenshots, but also click on the graph and take a shot of that one too. It shows vital info about when the phone is awake vs screen off, etc.
From the little I can see, your phone was sleeping well in the first few hours but then that steep slope down usually means an app/location service/sync went rogue and issued a wakelock.
A way to figure which one is to turn on stamina mode, and whitelist your messengers, mail and whatever else you are using. then take them off one by one to see which one is causing the **bleep**storm. Or simply install GSam battery monitor.
Another thing is that it's pretty useless to try and evluate your battery life in the first few days of purchase. You have to let it calibrate, charge to full and discharge FULLY a few times. Some users report it's beneficial to do that with a slow charger, even through USB.
And try to be more polite when asking for help. This is a community forum, not a Sony service centre. You are not entitled to our help. We choose to provide it for free
Cheers.
thanks for the reply vanSmuk....i have update the screen shots now....and i have done the complete 100% charge and discharge everytime for the last 12 days. Also did that through USB charger.
I am sorry if you feel that i havent been polite in asking for help. I wasnot trying to be rude or anything like that.
Good shots. It is concerning that the graph shows your phone is going to sleep properly when screen is off.
That tells me either something with your hardware is wrong, or the graph is missing some wakelocks.
Try installing GSam battery monitor. It's free. Since you dont have root it wont be very detailed but might tell us something more.
Alternatively try using Stamina mode (with the extended stand by + extended usage option) for one cycle. This will tell us if it's a hardware or a software glitch
realised after i switched off location totally, battery is really quite good. from 7am to 1130am, dropped by 5-8% only. after i switched on but GPS only, dropped more but manageable. seems like location is sapping power.
hopefully, the OS can be updated to enable controls on what can access location services..
will post charts after i run the battery down.
i find that if i on wifi, about 4 hrs after fully charge, i will be left with about 60-70% battery.
but if i off wifi, only on 4g, i can last the whole day, i tried about 12 hrs with still 90% battery life.
so i think the wifi may be draining the battery.
