Sadly, my first message on this board will be a complaint addressed towards my brand new Z5 unit, switched sides from an M8 with a broken digitizer for the second time. This will be a long read, beware!
Unit info:
Model: E6653 Graphite Black
SI 1298-2605 Rev 2
Current customisation Ver.: 1299-0277 R9C (Vodafone RO customisation - 6.0 / 32.1.A.1.163)
Bootloader locked, not rooted
After buying the unit described last Thursday, playing and setting it up for about one day, i decided to update to 6.0 Marshmallow through its own "Software update" function, coming with Lollipop 5.1.1 out of the box.
After the update finished, all around fifteen-twenty minutes, the following issues arose and still present as of today:
None of the issues described below were active during my Lollipop experience, tested and used all the functions thoroughly during two full days before updating.
- Fingerprint sensor not appearing anywhere in the phone (service menu - #*#*[...], "Security" category showing no fingerprint category, all pointing as if the phone has no sensor at all)
- No vibration coming from the phone. All tests failed. Same, pointing as if the phone has no vibration function at all (service menu, "Diagnostics" area in "About phone", tested also with ring calls, keyboard writing, also no vibration during standard Android BOOT sequence, nothing, no results)
- Camera dedicated button. Same issue, not working. All tests failed ("Diagnostics" area in "About phone", service menu, etc.), no detection towards using the button, pressed all the way down, not just half way down
- Only one speaker working, topside one. Tested with all the methods described above, no result for bottom speaker
- If i set up a "PIN" type screenlock, after one Android system restart, entering the PIN will end in a LOOP, asking me again for the PIN, and again and again, until "Unfortunately, System UI has stopped." error will pop-up, ending in a loop again asking me for the PIN
I tried the following methods, countless times, thinking it was a failed software update attempt, any without any luck:
- Software Repair using Xperia Comanion (XPC) with & without SIM/SD card in the unit
- Software Repair using PC Companion (PCC) with & without SIM/SD card in the unit
- Tried flashing different zone customisations, CE, Nordic, without any luck and went back to my stock carrier customisation described above and after that repaired again with first two options, just in case
- "Factory data reset" option from the unit
- Rebooting in safe mode, all issues still present
I'm not going to return my unit, not just yet. I strongly think that all these issues are software-based, all appearing after a simple firmware update. As i can see something similar written in THIS thread, an update may be on the way that *hopefully* will adress current issues with our unlucky units. :smileyd_oh:
I just want to know if you guys, sony/xperia tech support, moderators, etc., are aware of similar problems as mentioned and I'm not the only bloke with such a big list of issues.
If necessary, I can upload bugreports, from both normal mode and safemode.
