Z3 Compact Camera Focus

Hi there

I recently had my Z3 Compact repaired after it was accidentally dropped when someone attempted to mug me, the service I received was brilliant!  Thank you very much Sony for the first class service!

Everything seems to be working fine except my camera, it will not focus in auto mode or manual.  My colleague at work has the same phone and his works fine, we have gone through the settings and compared them.  I have even done a full factory reset but still the issue remains, it was working OK before it got sent off for repair.

Has anyone else had issues with their camera's not focusing?  Am I going to need to log another repair case?

Have you tried to focus pressing the camera button? What about videos,can it focus when recording?

Yes, I have tried using the camera button by pressing it halfway to focus.  This didn't work unfortunately, it doesn't focus when recording videos either.

When in video mode it looks as though it does try to focus but doesn't, also I keep seeing the small flower icon like it's attemping to capture a macro image.

I suggest you to try a software repair using PC companion:

http://www.sonymobile.com/gb/tools/pc-companion/

If it does not help,you might need to send the device back.

Is that the same as a factory reset or does that involve re-flashing the entire firmware?

It will reinstall latest firmware,also including a factory reset.

Unfortunately the camera is still the same after a software repair, is there anything else I might be able to try before having to send it back to Sony?
