So, the first day with my new Z3+ - and the camera app won't even start. The phone is not too hot, I've tried the Norwegian reset (turn the phone off then on) and the camera app still won't start. All I get is an error message telling me Camera has been stopped. Suggestions please?
Try performing a system repair using PC Companion as this will often fix issues - This will factory reset your phone and erase all data so best to backup before you begin
Switch off your phone and unplug from Pc (Hold volume up and power for around 10 seconds)
Start PC Companion and select Support zone then Update my phone/tablet then in Blue Repair my phone/tablet and follow the on screen instructions - When prompted connect your phone still switched off holding volume down or back button - This should start the repair or reformat process
If you are using Windows 8/8.1 or a 64bit operating system then adjust the settings for PC Companion and run in compatibility mode and chose Windows 7 or XP
Hi Ruggles, welcome to the community!
Before running the software repair you can try clearing the data for Camera by going into Settings > Apps > All > Camera > Clear data. If that doesn't help then follow @Thommo's advice. If the software repair also doesn't help, please then contact your local Sony Xperia Customer Care team - you can click the link in my signature for contact details.
Keep us updated, I do hope the software repair resovles the issue for you.
This didn't work. I did an update/repair on the Z3+ and now that I've restarted the phone I still get the same error when I try to start the camera app. Any other suggestions?
There is a chance the camera is faulty,so you would need to return the device.
So, having spoken to Sony Support here in Sweden the answer is to return the phone. Can't say that I'm terribly impressed that a phone costing nearly 7000 SEK (Swedish kronor) needs to be returned after less than 24 hours use.
