z1c and the dead camera. I don't know what else to do.

I came from the iphone because I thought there was finally an android device powerful enough with the z1c.

For the past month I have been trying to post here without success( errors through myxperia when trying to login)

I have cleared the cache, factory reseted and safe moded this phone ad nauseum and after 5 to 10 pics the camera starts freezing or not saving pictures.

I have tolerated this until now. I just turn the phone off, turn the phone back on and move on with my life (ignoring the fact that I did buy this phone mainly because of a camera that on paper was comparable to the iphone).

But today I lost my s#it. A guy hit a cyclist in front of me and I couldn't take a pic of the car before it left.

Phones have been taking pics since early 2000's. This is unacceptable. What else will I miss with a defective phone.


How hasn't this been addressed in a month? Why can't I find more people with the same problem?

Is it just my phone?!

I suggest that you try to repair the phone software using PC Companion..

Before repairing your device you may want to backup your information first. Check out this topic for more information on how to.

If the issue should still remain I think that this needs to be examined and fixed at a repair center. For more information about how to submit your phone for repair and where, contact your local support team.

I've already done that several times.

It is insulting to see this as a suggestion. A quick perusing of your forum shows more than. 10 threads with the exact same complaint.


This is a 500 dollar plus device that sells itself by its powerful camera.

This camera is rendered MIA by the current state of kitkat (this never happened until the update).

Have you taken in the phones of all the other users with the same problem?

Can't really see any statistics over sent in phones unfortunately, but if a software repair doesn't solve the issues you should send the phone in to a service center so they can take a look at it.

I am at fault for recommending this phone to 3 of my friends. That are also dwelling with the same problem.

What will it take for this to be addressed?

Does sony provide a replacement phone while they address a faulty device?

This is a software problem.it did not exist on the previous iteration of the OS

This issue may occour if you have installed a 3:rd party software that's using the camera and is not closing it properly. It may for example happen with Snapchat.

To see if this is caused by an app you've installed that's not closing the camera properly, please try your phone in safe mode.

When I stripped the phone naked after a factory reset it continued to happen (no other apps besides what comes with the phone).

Did the same to my friends phones on wishful thinking.

I still recommend that you try safe mode just to be sure. If you added a Google account during the setup guide it may have restored some apps.
If you have an SD card in your phone, also try removing that.

But if it happens without SD card and any 3:rd party apps i recommend that you contact a service location for further investigation.

I don't have an SD card.

Just like I said before I have used safe mode with no improvements.

Your service center does not offer replacement, or mailing in the phone ( yeah, I dropped over 500 hundred bucks on this phone let's lose time and money driving around because of their mess up).

Great (un)care service. Should have stayed with apple.

Sony will only do something about this when there are flashing colors by former users warning people not to buy your devices. Great.
