Z1, self repaired but... volume up button (flex cable) problems

Hi, about 2 weeks ago my volume down button stopped working which forced the mobile into safe mode, which i couldn't get out off due to the volume down button failuring, i tried all sorts of method already.

Today my flex cable part came, i followed a tutorial in-depth dissasembled the experia Z1, replaced the flex cable connected everything together, and MAGIC the mobile worked! ... it was no longer in safe mode the volume down button worked like a charm, HOWEVER now my volume up button stopped working??? the power button also is abit dodgy, it takes like 5-10sec till the screen turns back on after hitting the power button, does anyone know the reason why for this overall issue? ...everything is connected properly i also did a factory reset and connected it to the sony software which doesnt do anything as my mobile is already up-to date!

Please help, thanks!

@keza

Perhaps you have to replace the volume keys too.

But the key's isn't damaged i fully made sure they are tapping onto the flex cable, it's very strange

So if I'm reading this right before you replaced the back and sealed it all up you tested the button directly on the flex cable but when you placed the cable back in and sealed it all up you noticed issues - This leaves me to think there could be an alignment issues or an earthing issue - Was there any tap that needed to replaced over the connection point etc

Nope i haven't sealed the back case on yet, i tested it few times first to make sure it would work before placing the case back on.

First attempt i reconnected everything back, with the new flex cable screws back on and switched on mobile to realise the volume up key isn't working where as the bottom now works, and the power button delaying the screen to switch on.

Second attempt i unscrewed the plate off off again, disconnected everything (not the cable wires), just pulled the side of the flex cable out and slotted it back in the side.

Alignment issues - i'm 100% checked the buttons touched the flex cable as the slot is designed to fit perfectly just drop it in and push down, it doesn;t have any space to move either.

What do you mean by the tap bud not quite sure? ... i can take a photo of how it looks inside if i connected it all right i suppose

Sorry I missed the E of the end of tap (Tape) on most connections like a laptop there is a blue or black insulating tape so wonder if there should be any on - I would also if possible try cleaning the contacts with some alcohol but if that fails then you may just have bad luck and have a faulty replacement cable

The blue wire is the only one i really needed to take out completely im sure i connected them at the right ports, since both ends are same.

Can you circle on the images which parts with the tape please

I was thinking about tape on the connections from the orange flex cable to the board but see they use a plug type connection so I'd flip it off and clean and make sure it's connected firmly and not slightly dislodged
