my device is just 10-day old and after a week of using it.. the notification shown on the picture keeps on showing then it will shut down even though the device is not hot nor warm..
I dont know what are the causes of this.. I just remember that it is all okay the last time I used it and when i woke up to check the time, it isalready off. when i switch it on, it shuts down after a few minute.
I tried to reset it to factory seetings, i've even tried to install app-killers.. but it doesnt have any effect...
any idea about this? thank you so much!
Try to perform a system repair and if that fails contact Xperia care http://www.sonymobile.com/global-en/support/contact-us/
Switch off your phone and unplug from Pc (Hold volume up and power for around 10 seconds)
Start PC Companion and select Support zone then Update my phone/tablet then in Blue Repair my phone/tablet and follow the onscreen instructions - When prompted connect your phone still switched off holding volume down or back button - This should start the repair or reformat process
If you are using Windows 8/8.1 or a 64bit operating system then adjust the settings for PC Companion and run in compatibility mode and chose Windows 7 or XP
Thanks! I'll try to do it now! I hope this is the solution this this problem
Even i am experiencing the same problem its just been 2 months and trust me its annoying!!! expected better from sony! i had contacxted the sony service center in my area, and they are like they will need to flash it and upgrade it to kitkat, i dnt understand how an upgrade can help.. plz enlighten me on dis. and is it a software defect or is d board of d phone defective?? i have been losing important calls and dis is really causing hardship. plz revert.
I tried what Thommo said... I'll be observing my device the whole day tomorrow.. Hopefully the notification would no longger appear
It's terribly annoying
the phone still shuts down... but not as frequent before the update... and by this time.. the phone is really hot >_<
We will need more information to really help you here.
If possible, try to start with the phone in a clean state, remove the SD card (if applicable) and see if the phone still overheats.
When you need some other communications app, you can install it, but try to keep it at a minimum.
If the phone still overheats, you need to diagnose the phone.
The first thing I would do is regularly check which apps are consuming the most power.
Settings > Power management > Battery usage
If it doesn't overheat when in a clean state, or with a minimum set of apps/games, you can slowly add more.
Let's say one app or game per two days.
This should make it easier to spot if it's one particular game or app.
Does the phone overheat when it's standby, or when you are actively using it (playing a game, etc.)?
Do you install apps and games only through Google Play (or Amazon), or do you download APK's from the internet?
On the first week of my phone, I installed so many applications.. (launcher, skype, instagram, etc.) 7 days.. it runs smoothly and without problem.. the next thing I know.. I woke up and checked the time then I saw that my phone is already swithced off.. I turn it on and after a few minute of displaying the home screen the notification flashed "Phone is shutting down due to high temperature" even though thr device is not hot.. I turn it on again and the notification now is just "Shutting down"
I let it rest for a couple of hours then I opened it again.. This time I was able to use the phone from morning til night (just texting, watching videos on youtube, and facebook) then around 10:00 p.m., the notification "Phone is shutting down due to high temperature" appeared again. I turned it on again and it shuts down a minute after displaying the home screen.. The device is not even warm.
I read some post about the issue and one of the suggestions was to reset the phone into factory settings. My phone is newly formatted. Hence, there are still no applications installed to it. I just use the messaging for texting, facebook, and google search. I though it s already okay but then again, Phone is shutting down due to high temperature" appeared again. same as what happened last night.
I did what sir Thompson suggest. that is to update/repair the phone using the PC companion. After the update, the phone runs smoothly as what it is on the first time I had it. I even played the walkman for an hour with full volume, take plenty of pictures, call, text, use facebook, surf the net using chrome to test if it will shut down again but it did not. This evening I was watching a movie (the device is warm by this time) and the "Shutting down.." notification appeared. I turn it on and after seconds of displaying the home screen it was suddenly powered off. I open it again and up until now it didn't shut down.
that's the whole story
The phone never flashes the notification again
Thanks.. I Think it is just a software problem.. hope it will never come back
Hopefully problem solved
