Z1 Compact intermittent restarting/rebooting on 4.4

Had the phone for only 3 days and updated to KitKat first thing. In the few days I have owned the phone it has kept rebooting itself on 56 seperate occasions at random times which is proved highly annoying especially having come from HTC Butterfly S which was rock solid.

I did a factory erase and tried using the phone without installing any 3rd party apps or even signing into Google account but the problem still exists. Even tried formatting SD card in case that was issue but no joy.

Sadly I didn't test the device on Jelly Bean 4.3 so I am unable to confirm if the problem existed in previous OS however the restarts persist in ’safe mode' too on 4.4 which makes me think that the Sony ROM is riddled with bugs.

I am thinking of cutting my losses and going back to HTC but really like the size and power of the Z1 device.

If anyone has any suggestions or things I can try then please let me know other than rooting device and sticking on a custom ROM.
