Hi all, I searched high and low for a solution but I cant find anything online or here, (or maybe I missed something).
Here's what happened. Yesterday I accidentally put my XZU under running water, it was just a very short while but all ports were securely closed. Everything was fine until a couple hours later when I did a restart. The phone wouldn't power on. I checked the moisture indicator and it was (still is) white.
Since then it's been in a coma, no reaction from pressing any buttons. Connecting it to the wall plug would go to boot screen but then it would only show the charge percentage. Holding the power button while charging would cause it to vibrate 3 times.
I tried connecting it to the laptop and running PC companion but the software couldn't detect the phone and the phone's LED would show a blue color. Holding the power button while plugged would cause the 3 vibrations too but that's all.
I did the rice bin, vacuuming the ports, hair dryer thingies just in case the phone somehow caught some water but no dice.
One thing though, for the past couple of months the phone's mic would not work once in a while. It may be an old phone but it's a very good phone and I wouldn't want to trade this for any other phone. Warranty period's long been over and I wouldn't want Sony to fleece me again (they wanted to charge me USD$320 to replace the screen last time.)
Can anyone help me please?
vacuum and a hair dryer are bad ideas, contact your Local support and request a vacuum test.
On hindsight, it probably was. But the desperation..... haha. I don't have a backup phone available so anything went.
