Hi,
I need help on my 2 week old Xperia Z5 dual. It was working properly for 2 weeks then one day it went so hot and ran out of battery within 5 hours. I recharged it via a car charger which worked it up to 30% in 2 hours. After that it drained so fast and I could not charge even with the original wall charger anymore. When I plug it, the red led lights up, then goes off and the screen shows the sony logo, then the battery icon with no charging happening. It will black out then the red led will light up again and the cycle goes again and again. I can't use software repair in PC companion as the phone is not detected on USB. The most I can do is to turn it off and charge it on volume + power with blue led lighted and then use it as normal. But it does not charge with power on at all nor can I connect it via USB. Please help before I send this to the service center.
Thanks in advance
Hi @Lancyfatfat,
I'm sorry to hear that.
How fast does it charge while it's turned off using the original Sony charger? According to the environmental specifications it should take about 2,6 hours while it's turned off for a full charge:

Does it take longer than that? If it charges normally while it's turned off, it sounds like it may be software related and in that case I can only advice you to try a software repair using Xperia Companion. Try it even if the computer does not recognize your device while it's turned on.
I'm using the slow charger for my previous xperia z (850 mA). If I use the xperia z5 charger (1850mA) it will not reach full charge and sometimes still zero battery even if left overnight. It also heats up unlike the slow charger where I can reach 100% in around 4-5 hours. I tried to use the PC companion even if not recognized but it still doesn't go past the initializing stage. It stays on the connect the usb to pc section. I also tried the firmware flashing method (vol -) and led turns green but still no way to get pc to recognize it. It beeps once when connected to PC but no charging nor connection to my PC.
Aside from sending it to the xperia service center, is there a way to get it connected to PC companion?
Try doing the repair using Xperia Companion instead of PC Companion, the device is not meant to be connected in the start of the process so it should be fine that it can't be recognized. In a later step you'll be instructed to connect your device while holding down the volume down key.
If it still doesn't work, then unfortunately I can only advice you to contact your Local support in order to have your device sent to service.
Thanks Emir but I am actually using the Xperia companion and while the LED turns green, it still doesnt continue to the next stage. I know that sending it to the service center is the current option. However, if this is a software issue, is there some developer tool which I can use to repair or flash the firmware?
I wonder what the Sony service center will do if this is a firmware issue. Is there some app that they are using?
Xperia Companion is the software we have for reinstalling software.
Unfortunately I can only refer you to your Local support for information regarding servicing, since the service routines differ from market to market.
Emir, if the Xperia companion approach doesn't work, does that mean I'm stuck with this situation? What would be the extreme way to repair the software?
Xperia Companion is what I can refer you to in order to repair the software. As I said though, if Xperia Companion can't complete the software repair I can only refer you to send it in to an authorised service center. I can not suggest, nor recommend, that you try to use any third party options to modify the software in any way.
