Xperia Z3 won't boot after having been dead for 2 months and screen replacement

To make a long story short, after i cracked my screen it was unusable for 2-3 months before I could get the screen repaired. After replacing the screen, I tried charging up my phone again. At first I just thought the charging was taking forever, and the led was a solid red light. After a while, I tried plugging it in again with a different cord, and the screen lights up (still no display, just a black screen with the backlight on) after the red light shows for a moment. The LED then shuts of, the screen seems to change brightness slightly a couple of times, the led comes back on orange this time, and then the screen shuts off again, while the orange led stays on.

The hardware buttons have no response whatsover, no matter what pattern in which or how long I press them. Now after having left it plugged in for a while, when I unplug it and replug it, the same results show as before, but now the LED is green in the end instead of orange. I know that the phone itself is failing to boot, because it is completely undetectable when plugged into my computer, even with pc companion, which leads me to believe that the new screen itself isn't faulty. After the initial cracking of the screen the LCD still displayed, it just wasn't registering touch, and it was detectable by my computer, so I know it was working them.

Is the phone, theoretically, able to boot without a battery as long as it's plugged in? If not, would this issue indicate a battery malfunction? I really hope to get this phone up and running again, I absolutely loved it for the short time that I had it.

Try performing a system repair using PC Companion - I can't say it will fix your phone but is the 1st step to take - If it fails then something is either wrong with the assembly after the repair or something else was broken during the disassemble

Switch off your phone and unplug from Pc (Hold volume up and power for around 10 seconds)
Start PC Companion and select Support zone then Update my phone/tablet then in Blue Repair my phone/tablet and follow the on screen instructions - When prompted connect your phone still switched off holding volume down or back button - This should start the repair or reformat process

If you are using Windows 8/8.1 or a 64bit operating system then adjust the settings for PC Companion and run in compatibility mode and chose Windows 7 or XP

So first off, the phone shuts down immediately after being unplugged, no power/volume pushing nescessary. How convenient! Does this indicate a faulty battery?

After starting up PC companion and going through the steps, I get to the connect tab in the software update menu. When I connect the device, it lights up as usual, and when it gets to the part where the green LED turns on, the application moves to the detect tab. It says: "the device is now being installed" for all of three seconds, then moves to the finish tab where it informs me that it was unable to connect to my phone. So it is being powered on briefly, but then shuts off I suppose. After that, the green light stays on for as long as it's plugged in, and the screen stops being lit after about ten.

Sounds like a battery connection issue and also that the driver isn't installed or can't be due to a faulty battery connection
