Xperia Z3 Compact not connecting to wifi

Hi!

I purchased my Z3 compact 2 weeks ago and had no problems with connectivity since last night. All my other devices had no problem connecting to my home's wifi (or router), but last night, my Z3 compact experienced no connectivity at all - it can detect and connect to the said network, but cannot retreive any data from this wifi at home.

I tried setting up a hotspot on another device (using mobile data), and my Z3c was able to connect to this hotspot smoothly. Perhaps this is the home router's problem? 

I am finding it strange because I was able to use it smoothly for 2 weeks and suddenly it acts up as mentioned.

Thanks for the reply. I'm still quite unfamiliar with the technicalities but will check on it as soon as I familirize myself.

Here are other observations which may help narrow down my concern:

-I am able to connect to the home wifi SOMETIMES after connecting it to the independent mobile hotspot

-However, whenever I turn the wifi off and back on, the same problem persists and again does not obtain any data from the home wifi

Again, I'm pretty concerned with the fact that it's been working fine for two weeks then suddenly changes. As far as I know, no changes have been made in the router within this two weeks. All other devices are working fine as well.
