I write to you seeking an enquiry about the new Xperia Z1. First I wish to express that this is the most gorgeous and premium looking phone I've come across ever. However since it is on the expensive side, I've done some research and have come up with one question.
The plastic screen protector on the Z1 tends to catch scratches and upon removal of it, the front Sony logo comes off as well. As a consumer dishing out substantial amount I wouldn't wish to lose Sony branding on my phone. I do not intend to use any phone covers since hiding the beautiful Z1 inside a cover is not my agenda as this is my answer to premium looking iPhones.
Please share how to get a replacement front and back plaster protectors with Sony branding or a solution when you have scratches on Z1 front/back side as they tend to catch scratches very easily and there are multiple videos on youtube highlighting the same.
Your response will be eagerly anticipated.... Yours Syed...
The ASF from http://www.witrigs.com/oem-front-screen-anti-shatter-film-for-sony-xperia-z1 is Not bad. It came with the sony logo, applied easily and looked good.
But i also purchased a piece of glass screen protector there to set my heart at rest. Honestly, the glass screen protector is really great. You can have a try if you don't like the scratched screen protector.

Isn't it silly that we have to put aftermarket scratch protector on top of Sony' screen protector just to protect a glass that doesn't scratch?
no, the Sony's screen protector is anti-shatter film with the Sony logo on. If this one is scratched and you want to keep the logo, you shuld replace with a original ASF with the logo. It costs a lot than a screen protector.
SONY VOIDED MY WARRANTY FOR REMOVING THE ASF. I HAD TO REMOVE IT BECAUSE THE END CAME LOOSE ON ONE OF THE SIDES AND THE **bleep**TY EXCUSE GIVEN WAS THAT THE ASF SUPPORTS THE SCREEN AND PHONE IS RENDERED WATERPROOF BECAUSE THE ASF IS REMOVED BUT IT WAS QUITE THE OPPOSITE THE PHONE IS STILL WATERPROOF, THE PEOPLE WORKING AT SONY ITSELF DONT KNOW ANY THING ABOUT THE PHONE. AND YES I DONT THINK IT IS RIGHT TO VOID A WARRANTY FOR REMOVING THE **bleep**TY SCREENGUARD YOU GAVE IF YOU CANT GIVE A QUALITY PRODUCT COME WE DONT PAY 40+ GRANDS FOR JUS HAVING A SCREEN GUARD THAT GETS SCRATCHED WITH JUST A FINGER NAIL, ITS LIKE YOU BUY A PREMIUM CAR AND IT WARRANTY IS VOID IF YOU CHANGE THE TYRES AND SEATS
ATLEAST KIT HAS TO BE MENTIONED IN THE MANUAL THAT REMOVING THE ASF WOULD VOID WARRANTY.....I AM SURELY GONNA REFRAIN ANYONE I KNOW FROM BUYING ANY SONY PRODUCT
Hi there! I have the same problem, my screen start looking like old school Nokia after 5 years using. This is a big isssue for Sony, and seems nobody from Sony reply on this matter!! I really wait Sony to reply us, therwise i will never purchase a Sony product or would recommend any of my friends!!
Thanks for the review on the filter, Sophia!
When the time to change the ASF on my phone comes - and it will thanks to Sony - I will try this filter plus the protector as you mention.
BTW, how does the touchscreen work with the protector and the new ASF? Just fine? Any issue?
Regards!
Absolutely the touch screen can work well with the protector and the new ASF. There are two main functions of ASF are protecting the touch screen from scratches and keeping the glass pieces all together when the touchscreen is broken. So it will not affect the capacitive screen.
And why you'd better take another screen protector? That's because the ASF comes with the SONY logo. Maybe you don't want to replace the ASF always though it can be bought here now. And it costs less to replace a screen protector than a ASF.
So it depends on you. What only i can tell you is that the display of Sony Xperia Z1 is Capacitive screen, there will be no bad effect to apply another screen protector on the ASF.
