Xperia Z1 problems on all devices??

Wow! I just had a look at this forum and i'm not so sure if I want to get a Z1 anymore. They seem to have lot of problems.

My question is: Which problems occur on all devices and wich ones occur only on some of them (few %).

Talking about: bad pictures, lag when filming, overheat, bad wifi and so on..

When I read this forum it seems to be the worst phone ever made in history. I dont know if I should believe everything that had been said here??

I got my z1 a week back. I have already had a black screen and now sound issues. I hope its replacable. What is the replacement guarantee?

I've had my Z1 since beginning of November and I have had none of these issues other than the camera not being as impressive as it could be, but I'm not a photographer and I've tried taking pictures with expensive cameras and they come out rubbish too! Yes the phone gets hot, but mine had never shut down or given any warnings about overheating. In fairness my laptop gets hot and so does our iPad and it certainly doesn't get as hit as my old HTC sensation, which used to get so hot you couldn't touch it! Have never had any problems with lag etc. If you read forums about other phones you will find they are all full of people with problems with their phones, tends to be what the forums are for.

Have you guys try to wash under a water tap or dip it in a pool less than 1.5 meters not more than 30 minutes?

I owned the Z1 for 7 days and I wash it gently with water tap under slow pressure for less than a minute and all flaps closed tightly but the phone went dead after 30 minutes.

The water indicators on all the flaps are white, the color did not change. Give a try if you really want to make sure your phone is fully tested, but the consequence will be Sony will not replace a new unit to you even you are using it for a week.

They will only offer to repair it for you by some authorized service center.

The same as you bought a cloth at normal price and within few days, you discover there are holes in the phone, when return back to the shop, they will sew the hole and return it back to you.

I have had the z1 from day 1 on release in the UK (September) and had no problems what others have posted on here

photos are just great in day light not so good in low light but its a camera phone if you want great pics use a dslr simple.

I would say the wifi is weak on my device and I can't transfer files to my Mac from my phone (Bluetooth) but can the other way round but no biggie.I came from the nexus 4 and it was worth it Slightly_smiling_Face

The phone is superb on theory, that can't be denied. I'd say that if you get the chance to test your device for a couple of days before buying it - that would be the way to go. Unfortunately, I don't believe many retailers do that. I know that some do.

I had issues with the Z1 that showed themselves during the first two days. It's pretty much enough time for you to find out if the device has some potential problems. Mine, for example, started restarting itself, and later on the screen went dead, while the device was working. Four factory resets kind of made it sort of stable, for now. I would have never said a bad thing about this phone had it not been for this significant amount of complaints and virtually zero level of communcation from Sony's side. It's pretty much a bad sign, however we look at it. Otherwise, as I mentioned, on theory the phone is almost perfect, at least for what it is. A great camera for a phone camera, chips that will make sure you can run absolutely every possible app/game that is avaiable for this model, a fluent experience when using it (plagued by the infamous interrupted touch issue, which I have), and overall a nice build quality.

This sounds amazing, but on paper. The execution seems pretty half-arsed. The speakers are not great. The viewing angles are bad (some units have yellow hue defect). The phone will scratch almost immediately, unless you apply the protective cover. But, of course, mine came with 2 front covers and 0 back covers. I did not remove the protective matt layer from the back side until I obtained a case, which covered it. And the back still has a lot of scratches. Sony didn't provide me with any way to protect the back side with a fittng plastic cover, so again - this seems pretty lazy. I hope some of you received the phone with a cover for each side. I think a phone of such price should arrive with at least 2 for each side. That would make sense!

Anyways. Make sure that the device does not have any bugs - maybe look for a specific batch, which will not guarantee anything, of course. The most important thing is to choose a decent retailer - someone that will not do anything in their power to deny you true service, or replacements. If you do manage to get a hold of a bug-free Z1 - you will indeed own a great piece of tech.

I am proceeding with legal action against Sony Mobile for defective unit.

My advice is pursue a different mobility company. Do not go with Sony.

I am on my second Sony Xperia Z1 in a month's span. My first one the screen glitched out and refused to turn on. It was also running piping hot.

My second one is equivalent to a paper weight at the moment. Texting is faulty, apps can crash and make the whole phone reset, or the fact I can't send or receive phone calls without a messages saying "mobile data disabled" and it restarts.

The camera app can be a pain as well. When it works it's great. But most of the time the entire phone turns off and can't be started again until you hard reset the phone and restart it. This process can take 10 minutes.

Seriously considering going back to Apple. That's how serious this is.

I don't think Apple is any better in terms of what you get for what you pay. Everything Apple is overpriced and with an extremely closed design. Maybe much more robust, but you will simply be choosing the lesser evil. We have to face it - there isn't really any high-end device right now that is totally OK. Almost all companies have received complaints from their users. For god's sake - some guy's house burned down because of an S4. Another guy received a gag order by Samsung after making a video that showed that S4 self-combusts during charging. At least Sony is not doing that. Imagine if they started threatening clients not to talk about the bugs of their expensive gadgets.

Hi, need help please. On my Xperia z1 a prompt saying 'Reading problem try again' keeps popping up on my screen but I don't know what the problem is or how to fix it. Any advice? New to the smart phone world would love some assistance please.
