Xperia Z1 flash issue

Hi, I noticed that my Xperia Z1 photos made using the flash tend to have a white hue in the right side, most of them anyway. And it's not the fact that I'm too close to the subject. In the attached photo everything was at least 1 and a half meters away from me.  Not all pictures turn out like this, but most of them get this white hue.

Any of you experinced this ? Could it be that I have a faulty unit ?

Hi, I uploaded 2 more photos and the original one. The last 2 I did a few minutes ago, one using the settings described in your link (Party mode+fill flash), the other with superior auto (the one that got the white balance better). They both have the white/blue hue in the lower side (because they were made in portrait mode - the first one has the hue in the right side, as it was made in landscape mode). This is really anonying because last weekend I went out with a couple of friends and tried to shoot a few pics with the flash and got the nasty hue, and then tried the same pics with a friends Samsung Galaxy S4 and they came out waaay better (no sign of the hue also - even in cases where the subject was very close - 20 cm).

There's something too close to the camera lens and/or flash, it could be your finger(s), it could be a protective case and/or film.

I faced the same problem, I dont put cover or finger between the flash and the camera, but the photo taken is still whitening.

I still haven't solved the issue either. I didn't place a finger near the flash or the camera when taking the photos and I don't have any case on the phone.

In some photos it is very obvious (half of the image has the white hue over it), while in other photos it is less obvious (maybe it depends on the ISO value), but you can see it in every photo taken with flash. Any other Xperia Z1 users noticed this issue ?

I have the same problem and some strange white balance behavior (it tends to be green). the light come from flahs side and it invade the lens. My Z1 have white back. I remember that white iPhone 4 had the same problem a couple years ago. Apple had to change the kind of paint to fix it. What colour is your Z1 back?

Hey TS! I think it because of reflected wall or shiny color that's why is there white hue. Try to shoot in a dark room that NO HAVE WALL COLOR SHINE. i think it because of the flash of camera.. Or some mirror when you shoot in a dark room that why i think..

I have the back Xperia Z1. And it's not an issue with some reflective surface. I tried to shoot photos with flash in dark rooms or outside and I still get the same white hue... It's really annoying.

Well, me and my friends were testing this phone and out of 20 people 2 had this problem i was one of them Slightly_smiling_Face

... we all had same model of black xperia z1.

I managed to get to the bottom of this .... i think. First of all if u have additional case cover with too small "window" around the lens or additional protective foil the problem is getting even bigger.... foil transports more light fom flash so check if the photo is better wothout additional protective foil or case cover (im not talking about original one).

Anyway....

My phone has silver border around the lens and i had same problem over and over again. Sometimes when i restarted it i managed to get few pictures of god quality.........one day i just painted this silver border with thin black marker with caution Slightly_smiling_Face and....viola.... problem dissapered... funny thing because out of 20 same models ony 2 experienced same problem ... all looked the same, dunno maybe flash is brighen on those 2 mabe some other problem ....anyway i know its not the best solution but it helped me. cheers Slightly_smiling_Face
