Xperia Z1 dead?

Hi there.

My Xperia Z1 appears to have died this afternoon, one second it was working fine the next it froze up and then finally just powered itself off. The red light flashes constantly while charging and that's about all that's happening with it.

I've tried the power/volume button hard reset bull**bleep** and that does nothing at all. Left it on charge now for over an hour and nothing. Had the phone for around 18 months so it appears it may now just be a paper weight. Are they any other fixes or am I just without a phone now and finding something to buy other than a glitchy Sony POS.

You may need to perform a software repair using PC Companion. The process will erase all internal memory. You might need to charge your device for about 1-2 hours before so the device has at least 60% battery.

Make sure the device is not connected to computer or laptop and turned off (sometimes you have to press power button and volume up until the device vibrates 3 times or on some devices you have to press the small button near the SIM tray or on the back of the device).

Open PC companion->support zone->phone/tablet software update->repair my phone/tablet blue highlighted.Follow the steps given,do not connect your phone until prompted to press volume down while plugging USB cable. If PC companion does not start the repair process, you might need to run it in compatibility mode with Windows 7 (in some cases XP).

Just one error trying to reset it through the startup companion. Holding the volume and power button does nothing, no vibration not even after 30 seconds and isn't connecting to the program.

Was the device turned off when you tried that? Was the device connected to charger for about 2-3 hours?

Just let it charge for to 2 to 3 hours, even if it doesn't seemed that its working.

Device is turned off, it's completely and utterly devoid of life. There was about 75% charge in it when it went off, held down the power/volume and no vibration. Completely and utterly unresponsive in any possible way. And was charged for just shy of 2 and half hours.

I remember now why I never bother with Sony products.

If nothing helps it'll be on the sharp end of a very heavy hammer. Be more use that way.

Hello,

I suggest send your Xperia Z1 to Sony Centre. This is motherboard and battery problem. I had a same problem before and after warranty expired.

If Xperia Z1 in Warranty u are luck and if not, cost to repair is around in MALAYSIA RM7++ .++(USD 2++).

My reference case is 1-17959935299.
