Xperia Z1 Charging Port

Went to plug in my Z1 today, plug wouldn't go in, like there was something in the slot, I looked and there was a small piece of brass in there loose, It fell out, (I kept it in a small bag) and I was able to get the plug in, but it wasn't easy, and I'm worried the connection in there is deteriorating/may fail.  Thoughts?

Its hard to help you if you don't post an image, my suggestion is to get the Dock and charge your phone through the magnetic port
