Xperia z1 big bug offline charging (android 5 lollipop)

Hi,

There is a big bug in new update android 5 lillipop biuld .242

when the mobile fully discharge and turn automaticaly off, when you connect it to charge in offline charge, it doesnt charge realy( about 3 percent in half an hour) and the adapter doesnt being warm. and when turn it on in this situation a(without disconect charger) , its show in lock screen that there is 7 hours to fully charge!

and we have to turn the mobile on and and disconnect the charger and reconnect again to fix this problem.

I tried it in 2 device.

it happens when the mobile discharge completly and recharge in offline mode.

It was not similar to this in preveiws ver. kitkat.

best regard.

1. don't let the phone run out of battery, it's not wise.

2. are you using a wall charger or car charger or computer to charge it?

I tested wall charge and sony magnetic dock charger.

you said right that it is not good to compltely discharge the phone, but it is a realy worth bug in tihs firmware. you dont see this bug in any smart phone.

and it is harmful for this phone, because it doesnt recive full current (Amperage). and this disturbe phone. but preveiws it is'nt like this. i am a electrical engineer and I know that this is n important bug that can disturb the battery and motherboard the phon in this situation.

I wouldn't say that no other phone has this "issue", also are you using the wall charger and a regular micro USB cable or the magnetic cable?

I think that you might have hardware issues, I'll try to recreate your issue with my Z1 in few hours.

I am also experiencing this.

The charging also seems to randomly stop before 2%, and drains the battery back to flat again.

(Unless i inadvertantly hit a key or cable or something, that caused it to discharge.).

I thought it was too good to be true; that Sony would release updates to the Z1 that wouldn't kill off the handset.

-Unfortunately for them, I got a two year warranty as standard.
(I have about 5 months left.).

It's a shame that I'll have to lose all of my user data, though.
-Either through a factory reset, or going out of my way to complain about it.

Worst thing is: Although Android 5.0.2 took a rediculous length of time to get to me, (OTA. /EE. I think it may have even been yesterday,) everything still seemed decidedly glitchy.

(I did have some screen shots. -Maybe not anymore.).

-In spite of these glitches, I was thinking that Android 5 almost refreshed my Sony Z1.
It made me think, "Oh, actually... Maybe I would be interested in a Z5 when it's released. Sure those Samsung S7 rumours look pretty good, but sony have been giving me good customer service with the updates, and a nice two year warranty...", and so on.

Now I've had to look up an issue with the phone, I'm seeing all sorts of stuff about random screen warping, an array of issues with the battery/ charging/ wireless charging... And the rest.
Worst of all: There are anecdotes about Sony representitives refusing to honour the warranty!
This is a PR. disaster for Sony, if you ask me.

In some ways, it's almost like they expect you to upgrade your phone every six months.

I'm writing this here in the hope that sony read these pages, and might pay attention.
-I already find myself reluctant to look at HTC. branded phones after the whole HTC One X travesty.
I really hope that I don't end up with the same bitter after-taste from sony.

Thanks for telling me that it's firmware by the way, It's a big help to know that I can always just hit, "Reset to Factory Settings", and have a working phone again, if it comes to that.
