Hello,
I have bought the Xperia Z 1 week ago, it's a good device, except the WiFi.. It has very poor signal for the WiFI networks, I have to be near the router to get the good signal quality.. if I put the phone besides my VAIO laptop, my laptop detect 15 available wireless netwroks and my phone will detect only 3 or 4, and the ones which the phone detected has lower signal quality than the laptop... I never had the same issue before with any of my phones.. this is really making me upset.. any idea??
Is there something I can do to fix the issue?
Thanks in advance.
Abed
Each country have update on diferent date, so depending where you are
I am literally 3.5 meters away from my linksys wrt110 and i only have 1 line in my wifi reception. Sometimes it goes up to 2 lines but only lasts for a few seconds. My othrr phone has full reception. I tried updating my router firmware but it seems like i have the latest. Then again it does the same with my other router.
6602? i have the 6603, but that only concers lte support, no difference in wifi, i just stumbled upon this: http://www.gsmarena.com/sony_xperia_z_gets_minor_firmware_update_fixes_a_major_issue-news-5746.php
Wich suggests the update has to do with the sudden death some users experienced, nothing mentioned there about wifi, so i dont know man, it really seemed to help here, if you look at my screenshot i took when i was upstairs in my bedroom you notice it also has onnly one stripe but reception in wifi analyzer looks acceptable, will check if i have the dropouts, didnt notice any yet.I strongly suggest u get wifi analyzer from playstore and see if you not on a channel too much used by others in the area, i changed mine to the least used free channel around my house in router
ive had the xperia z for 2 weeks now, everythings great apart from the Wifi connection which takes an age to connect and when it does it often drops out............. Dissapointing that Sony doesn't seem to want to reply to any of the queries on this board.... soooooooo frustrating. coontacted my network operator (3) and they are looking into it for me, but I fear I will be returning within the next two weeks to return my xperia z in exchange for a trusty iphone or maybe a samsung which don't appear to have any of these flaws!!!
Please Mr Sony man, instill some confidence in your loyal customers before the xperia z ends up been the 21st century betamax!!! or Nokia for that matter..............
i just writing on all big online shops where are selling Xperia Z , here in Czech Rep. comments that there is thisWiFi problem and Sony support dont want to talk about it.
I hope that i save some money to people when i write do not buy it yet!
I buy one of the first Xperia Z and after more than 3 weeks i am not very hapy that i pay for this so big money becouse i was expecting the best of Sony and i got the "c_r_a_p_ of Sony"
Today I am going to place preorder for new HTC One
NO more SONY if they dont answer on this WiFi poor signal problem!!!
i'm having the same problem only when i have my bluetooth enabled. When I turn off bluetooth, it works fine.
I have forwarded this problem for further investigation. I'll update you as soon as i have more information.
The second problem is also happening with me. The wifi sometimes disconnects when the phone is on standby. My router is a linksys wrt110. When i try to reconnect it gives me an authentication error. Damn what a headache. Bassically i cant download anything without the phone being interrupted. I really hope it isnt a hardware issue.
The WiFi connection is definitely weak on mine. I've tried it in a couple of houses and cannot get a signal (or only sporadically do) in rooms where other mobile devices (my old LG Optimus 7, iPod Touch, Nexus 7, etc.) can maintain a steady - if weak - connection.
Whether the reception is at fault and the WiFi just needs a power boost, or something needs to be done to try and get it to keep hold of weak connections, I don't know.
Well after 3 week of frustration I decided to buy a new £64.99 MY NET N750 wireless router to replace my Belkin wireless g router............... a breeze to set up and and now my xperia z instantly connects.............. still in trial mode though but things are looking better. I've turned wireless on and off now about 10 times and each time it connect anstantly................ I have even been into other rooms were the signal is weaker and it still connect straight the way.......................
......................So it might have been my old b/g router after all...... time will tell.
Not the ideal solution paying out for a new router, but my frustration levels have depleted somewhat!!
