Xperia Z Screen Dead

Just last month I bought “Sony XperiaZ”. To my surprise, the “Brand” experience didnot resemble the one, for which Sony is known for.

I discerned an issue of a bug related to “inability of connecting to GPRS” for whatsapp on my phone. Now today, I was carrying a cell in my pocket, absolutely nothing major happened, but  I took out the cell from my pocket, only to find that it had a  crack on the its screen and a shaky view on the screen. The phone is just not usable in its current state.

This shaking issue, has really “Shaken” my faith on Sony’s reliability and durability (for which this Japanese conglomerate is known for). The kind of price I paid (about 800 USD), doesn’t justify the solid built it’s supposed to have.

1.) can you show the picture of the damages screen?

try contacting your local service center, maybe you got a factory defect phone. http://www.sonymobile.com/global-en/support/contact-us/

I contacted Sony service center, but there answer was disappointing. Since right now there is a crack they say, I have to pay Rs 20K (400USD) and will get a new piece.

But here is the history:

Few days back.I bought Sony Xperia Z with a lot of expectations. After coming home, I sensed that the speaker volume is very fable. I thought I will live with it.

Later, when I started installing apps (the real use of Android smartphone), I struck with a very strange problem. Only whatsapp was not able to connect to internet through GPRS. It was able to detect WiFi but no GPRS. Odd!!

Moving on, about 15 days later my phone started hanging for about half a minute intermittently when I was dialing a number. It was coming to life without doing anything.

Worst of all this was - day before I was carrying my cell phone in pocket only for 15 minutes, nothing major happened, no striking against object - nothing and I took out phone from my pocket to figure out the screen has a crack!! Odd, very odd!!

I went to service center with a lot of hope, they tell me - your earlier problems we would have given you a replacement, now a crack so we cannot.

So does this mean all my earlier problems are not justifiable? Keeping in mind all my earlier problems - isnt it getting highlighted that I got a factory problem phone which probably was also brittle that it could not bear only small amount of pressure of being in jeans pocket for 15 minutes? I can understand 'a fully perfect original' phone's damage might be considered as physical damage which is not covered in warranty but all my earlier problems indicate that my piece was a problem piece. What is Sony's answer for that?

After paying a hefty amount of  38K, you are not getting satisfaction but are getting disturbance for no fault of yours. Doesnt Sony care about their customers who have genuine problems with their phones? Already negative publicity has started hampering where my colleague was to buy Xperia Z, is now rethinking and more of this sort would happen if Sony customer service is not considerate enough.

As i have pointed out many times, its made of gorilla and dragon taril glass two very tough tempered glasses so it's impossible that it broke by just being in your pocket maybe u hit something or you were wearing extra tight pants and when you sat somewhere that exerted a lot of pressure on it's screen (has happened to me with my old galxy s3)

The screen will only break if a heavy amount of pressure is exerted on it

Everyone says its not possible to break if I keep it in pocket - but I myself know for sure that nothing happened apart from keeping it in pocket.

I have mentioned some other problems in the above thread apart from cracked glass, which is pointing to the fact that device probably was problemtic.

I was rather expecting more supportive stance from Sony Service side considering all the prior issues and considering that device was in warranty.
