Xperia Z Error: Camera not available?

hello guys can anybody help me with tihis issue. I bought xperia Z 15 days back. It is working perfectly fine and i love this phone, but suddenly yesterday evening i went to click a photo and the camera started as normal but when i pressed the click button on screen it got hang. this happend a couple of times, no photos were clicked during this period. Later on i went back to my home screen and turned ON the camera again but now it showed a black screen with a message ERROR: CAMERA IS NOT AVAILABLE, and since then i m not able to turn on my camera. I have rebooted the phone a lot on times. I dont use any third party camera and have all basic apps installed in my phone. my phone is regularly updated. Currently i am travelling abroad in India, my purchase bill and warranty is back at my home in NZ will it cause any issue if i think to do the servicing. But still that will be my last option, is there any way or setting through which i can fix this issue....please give me some advise as i am very much new to this smart phone world..

things to try in this order

go to settings - apps - all apps - and find camera, select the clear data button - turn off phone and restart  and see if ok

you could also download experia diagnostic program and see if the camera starts with that application and takes photo's if it does then the camera software may have gotten corrupted

either way you may want to just go for the full monty update repiar using SUS or PCC- if you still have a problem then your camera hardware may have developed a fault

back up your phone before doing the update repair

hello i tried going to settings and selected clear data and did as you suggested but it did not work. Secondly i downloaded the app xperia diagnostics and ran the test for camera, but even after pressing on camera icon in that app, my camera did NOT turn on, both front and rear.

now hw shd i update repair using SUS or PCC...well wat is SUS and PCC and where will i find it?

both of these will allow you to repair (reinstall firmware) for your phone- they will reset your phone to it's out of the box state rebuilding everything

If this doesn't work then it's back to the shop - although I'm puzzled that both cameras have failed - there is probably a handler chip or I/O chip that manages the camera hardware and data

cross your fingers that update repair works

you can install PCC from the phone via the settings/Experia/usb settings or download it from Sony

I have same problem. When i run diagnostig program my front camera works but back doesn't. I have tried to clear all data on camera and restart also tried SUS + PCC and those didn't help. Any suggestions what to do next?

I've been having this problem since the latest update (to fix earspeaker vs loudspeaker problem). Camera was working fine before this and a google search shows quite a few others with the same, common problem. It would seem to me that Sony needs to give us another update to fix the camera software...

Did as geoffh suggested - cleared camera data - camera locked up on 3rd photo. Ran diagnostics on the camera and it locked up/failed on the 2nd photo. Too many people having this problem for it to be an isolated issue with a single phone, or just a small group. Suggest that Sony issue an update for the camera software (see my earlier post).

A while ago my camera is not responding..and then it back to normal. But now my problem is the switch camera back and front is no display.hiw can i use the front camera? Im using xperia z.purchase 3 months ago.pls help
