Hi,
Recently I have been helping my friend to solve some issue she has been suffering with on her Xperia XA (roughly a month old now). Ever since she has got her phone, the phone runs low on storage very quickly, it is always somewhere between 95 and 100% storage. She has tried to move files over to the SD card, deleted cache files and/or apps and went to the store to let them analyze the problem. The only thing they could tell her was to restore her phone to factory settings. Before she proceeds with resetting her phone, she wants a back up from her Xperia.
We tried several times to back up the phone through the Xperia Companion, on 3 different computers, but all of them seem to take either very long or stops halfway. The Windows PCs/app seem to take the longest, it took approximately 10 hours to get to 50%, which is unacceptably long for a phone that stores max 16GB. The Macbook took 1 hour to get to 50%, but hangs halfway. She tried to untick the Music box, but that didn’t solve the problem. It has no use to untick the other boxes (Personal Info/settings and Photos/videos), because that’s what she wants to back up. I have searched around on google, only to find out that there’s a major bug in the Companion app, which, from what I have found, hasn’t been solved yet.
Is there a way to get her back up through? It frustrates a lot because the phone is barely 1,5 month old and so far and she can’t get her problem solved this way.
So these are the two main questions:
- Why is her phone running out of storage so quickly, is there a way to solve this and prevent this from happening in the future?
- Is there a way to make the Xperia Companion back up work?
Thank you in advance!
