I have just got this phone and in the contacts you can pick your own favourites which is great but I do not want pictures I would like to just have a list? Can this be changed?

Funny you should write that - I was just about to post the same question. Really annoying as I don't have pics for all the contacts I want to put in favourites, so I want a text alternative. Does one exist?

Also, is there any way to program short cuts to keys on the phone pad? If you hold 1 down you can call the answerphone so I would assume it would be possible to add other contacts to the other numbers, but how?

As with many questions on here this isn't a direct answer but shall we say an alternative way of looking at the problem!!

I use an app called 'gesture search' free from market on X10 biggun to find my contacts.  You basically draw the first letter (then second, then third if you need it) and it gives you a list... Adam, Alan, Amy etc with a green phone by their name to make a call or press on their name to go to their full contact in the phonebook. There are no pictures in it until you go into phone book which I know was your original query and I'm really sorry that I don't know how to get rid of them... don't think you can.
