Xperia V playstore problem

I have my Xperia V for just over a year now and I cannot download or update any apps from the play store. An error message pops up saying there is insufficient space on the device when I have just over 4Gb Of free space!

Settings-apps-downloaded. How much free space do you have?

Are you reading from Internal Storage or the SD card, as you cannot use the SD card to load apps on this device.
