xperia Update

i have just had a message advising that there was a new xperia update to run.  i did this and now everything is going wrong. my email account tells me that there are 98 new emails but it doesn't show any of them, most of my downloaded applications wont work and when i tried to make a call earlier the screen kept locking and then returning it's self back to the main screen.

i have turned it off and left it for 2 hours, then turned it back on. i've looked at all the settings and i can't see anything that could be wrong and basically i've just had enough.

has anyone had the same problem and if so what do i do to sort this problem?

Re-install the update, it will smooth things out

Just to give an update - I spent nearly an hour on the phone to a very helpful guy at phones4u. Eventually I had to restore my phone back to the factory settings and re-load my life back on to my phone. Don't know why the update did this but will be very wary if I have to do another one! Lesson learnt? Back up your phone atheist once a week!
