Hi,
I am new to this forum. I bought my Xperia U, three days back with lot of excitment. This excitment could not last for long as I started playing with my xperia U. Some of the problems i foound are listed below.
1) While capturing photos I found that some of the features in my Xperia U are disabled. The features disabked are Smile detection,Focus mode, White balance & Metering. So my question is that are these features purposely disabled or are there any settings to activate these features.
2) Whenever I connect my Xperia U to my Laptop (Lenovo, core 2 duo with Xp Sp-3) through USB, I get a pop up window in my mobile asking for Install or cancel PC companion. When I select install a window appears on my laptop screen with set up file "Startme", but no action takes place when I click the setup file. So I downloaded PC companion manually through net & installed on my laptop. Any guesses why this is happened.
3) Whenver I click on options on PC companion it always asks for internet connection. Why it is so?
4) I am not able to do tethering using USB cable. Firstly I was not able to install the drivers properly, ended up getting message that "Device not installed properly, may not work corectly" Finally I coould install it by disabling Firewall, but still I cant access internet through USB tethering. What is the solution for this.
5) When I switch on WiFi, neither the phone nor the laptop detect each other. How do I setup WiFi tethering?
6) I can send files from bluetooth of Xperia U to W350i & K750i (both Sony Ericcson), but I cant receive files on my Xperia U from any of these models.
So whats the solution for this.
So request you to Help me.
Santy.
Welcome to the forum Santy,If you are running gb then make sure you update to ICS as soon as possible.
http://www.sonymobile.com/gb/tools/update-service/
1)No these features are not permanently disabled. You may have enabled some settings in camera which disabled these functions.Try tweaking the settings and then see.If no help try repair via SUS/PCC
2)If you want to disable the notification then go to settings>Xperia >Connectivity. This remains the same for GB as well as ICS
3)PCC requires the net connection
4)
5)A repair should help.
6)There is no problem reported like this .You can try rebooting your phone or a repair will help

Hell Jatin,
Thanks for your help.
1) I found no such settings which can enable these functions in my phone. Even repair by PCC didn't help.
2) I have already disabled this message. But my question remains the same. Why I was not able to install PCC through my phone directly?
3) It will be taken care, but what is the use of PCC without internet?
4,5) I have became obscessive about how can I access internet on my Laptop either by USB or WiFi preferably WiFi. So any suggestions in this regard will be helpful.
6) I was not aware that I have to accept the bluetooth files by dragging the message in the notification bar on my phone. So now I can recieve the files on my Xperia U through bluetooth. This problem is solved.
But rest all problems remained unsolved. Regarding your suggestion to switching to ICS, I am not confident that the hrdware of Xperia U is compatible with ICS. So can anybody help to know the compatibility of ICS with Xperia U.
"****" What is this ??
1)Try enabling normal mode instead of auto
2)The phone ont wants ur pc to install pcc.It cant detect whether you have it installed it or not.The phone does not have the files needed for pcc so even after the message appears you still have to download it from the net.
3)I guess nothing or maybe you can backup the phone
6)Glad that the problem is solved.
WTF I guess everybody in the world bought this phone just coz of ICS.So you must upgrade to ICS as it enables stability issus and the phone is much more smoother than compared to GB while on ICS.
Ics also has many more features
And please use SUS for the update not ICS.After installing ICS you will once feel lagginess because GB is different from ICS and it takes time to adjust the settings.A couple of restarts would make the phone perfect. Also a repair is good when you are on ICS as it removes most of the useless things required by GB.
