Xperia U - My SIM card it getting disconnected frequently. I had to remove and insert it again and restart my mobile. This happens to me almost 8-10 times a day. And is a big problem as my battery is dried up because of this.
Are you able to try another SIM in the phone so that we can potentially rule that out as the problem?

Dear Sam,
I tried another SIM in the phone but still have this problem.
Ok, this sounds like a hardware issue that would potentially require return, however it would be worth running an update/repair to at least rule out a software issue first:
To repair the phone software
1. Install PC Companion on a Windows PC from Support
2. In PC Companion, under Support Zone and click Start.
3. Under Phone Software Update, click Start.
4. Click repair phone.
5. Follow the on-screen instructions.

Dear Sam,
I was facing same issue. but yesterday when I was recieving a call, signal got lost. then it was not at all coming back. simcard was not identified. after so many reboots, I observed error saying 'error while searching for network'.
finally I repaired it with PC companion. but problem remained.
Then I did formating and then it got back to network.
but still I am noticing that some time it drops the network, or says simcard removed followed by reboot.
waiting for a day and then going to sony care.
This is exactly the issue i m facing.
I need to reinsert the sim in order to get it working.. this was not happening at the time i purchased it..
it started since last month
i was facing too but found a trick
just put your phon in gsm only mode by this path setting>>wirless & network >> mobile network >> network mode ,, select ``gsm only`` and wait for 1 to 3 minuts ,, it works perfectly
