Xperia SP camera zoom

My xperia SP camera is 8MP but when i zoom and take pics it's so bad that it's like a 1.5 MP camera. 
Does anyone know why and how it can be avoided?

Hi,

That is because the phone uses digital zoom which have no moving parts compared to an optical zoom. For example, if you are shooting a picture with a 2X digital zoom. The camera will use half of the pixels at the center of the CCD sensor and ignore all the other pixels.

No, there no settings that you can adjust regarding this.
