Xperia SL and Smart Tags

I cant seem to make the smart tags work. I have 4 of them and they all do the same thing which is nothing.

First things first, my device is an Xperia SL which of course comes with an ICS OS.

I've turned on the NFC and everytime I swipe a smart tag, it will make this sound as if it can detect a smart tag..

the phone came with the LiveWare manager and I updated it to the latest "Smart Connect" version.. I also uninstalled the "Xperia Smarttags" app and reinstalled it with the current version in the play store.

After placing the Xperia Smarttags widget in the home screen and turning on the NFC, it makes a sound everytime I swipe it but it doesnt even register to the widget, the "Smart Connect" app also does not have any option about handling Smart Tags triggers and so does the old version (Liveware Mgr

Is there anyone here that owns SL in which they can actually use the smart tags?

As I understand, using Smart Connect you have to make your own SmartTag events. Open Smart Connect and make a new event. And you will be able to configure which actions that should be made when you place a SmartTag to your phone.

there's no option for the smart tags in the latest Smart Connect update (even the previous one before the update), and the smart tags widget doesnt detect the smart tag that i am tapping my phone to, The phone does make sound as if it has detected a smart tag everytime i tap it to with my smarttag... so I am assuming that the problem is either the phone's NFC reader, the smart tag that i have or the software specifically for Xperia SL isn't woring for this smart tag feature..

so I want to know if there are other Xperia "SL" users out there who were able to use the smart tags?

smartconnect it's not a good idea, uninstall the update, why? well if you have this update (to liveware) when you connect your phone to a wall charger and/or computer your home screen wont rotate

Hi, i am having the same issue with my Xperia SL. I cannot find the NFC device listed in the Smart Connect app when creating a new event. The phone simply plays a tone when it is near the tag and nothing pops up after.

What i found is that the Xperia SL doesn't support the Smart Tags in difference with the Xperia S eventhough it is NFC enabled device.

wrong.. XSL supports smart tags.. try smart  tags of xperia sola (tags from box) and it will work..

it is just your smart tags were generics.. it is not real sony xperia tags.. got the same problem but i solved it..

install SmartTag Maker from playstore... open it and try your tags!

Thanks a lot "Smart Tag maker" worked perfectly. Before reading this message I was afraid that my XSL is useless for smart tags.

I have Sony Smart Tags app installed in my SXS but it does not appear in the apps menu. Try installing the Sony Smart Tags app from Playstore. Thereafter, when you switched on your NFC and touch it to your Smart Tag, the phone's Smart Connect will locate your tag for you to configure.

Suggest you install Sony Smart Tag app from Playstore (The app will have no shortcut in your apps manu) and try your tags again.  Smart Connect should work and from there configure your tags.
