Hi, I am trying to connect my Xperia S (LT26i) on Android 4.0.4 to my Macbook by USB. When I do, it starts charging but doesn't recognise the phone whatsoever. It doesn't appear on the computer anywhere and neither does the computer on the phone. When I go to Settings > Xperia > Connectivity, the ONLY setting is "Install PC Companion". No USB connection mode setting at all.
If anyone can help me with this I'd really appreciate it. Sorry if this has already been posted before.
Thanks
Same on linux and they aren't bothered to help at sony.
Xperia S only supports Media Transfer mode, MTP, not File transfer, MSC. To get access to the content in the phone you need to install Bridge for Mac. You find it here:
Yes Kbaleo, I had an online chat thing with Sony and they couldn't help.
Thanks Samuel, but I don't even have the option of MTP. Nothing at all. I have Bridge for Mac. The computer doesn't detect the phone at all.
Here is a pic of the connectivity settings page (sorry for the blur.. and it appears flipped for me for some reason?). The top option is the PC Companion one, and below that is the greyed out "trusted devices". This is whether I have the cable plugged in or not:
Since the phone only supports MTP mode you don't have any option to change. It's connected in MTP mode by default. Do you have the latest version of Bridge? I know these connectivity issues has been addressed earlier on and there was a fix released not so long ago.
click network config...? not getting it.
no devices in trusted devices.
