Hi Sony and Users,
Since day one 1 (9 march 2012) that i had the Xperia S i have GPS problems.
Looking at the forums there are more people with the same problem.
It looks like the 2011 range has the same problems.
http://talk.sonymobile.com/thread/25770?start=0&tstart=0
The Xperia Pro / Neo / V are running on Android 2.3.4 (What i have read).
The Xperia S is running Android 2.3.7
Why is there no bug fix for the 2.3.4 version.
Why did you bring out the Xperia S with the bug still in it. When does the Fix come.
The forum thread of the 2011 models, already sad that the bug was there on oct 29, 2011 by JojoNeo.
So you just continue to bring out phone's with the same problem??
For me the only thing that works is to turn on Flight Mode and then Navigate. Thats NO option for me.
I have a HSDPA 14,4 Mbit/s connection on my phone but the problem is still there.
5 minutes of navigation and the connection freezes till i restart the phone.

Hmm, that seems to be a bit off indeed (unless you're training for Iron Man I suppose).
Have you tried any other similar apps? E.g. My Tracks or iMapMyRun? If possible, please do. They're both available for free in Play Store.
At Settings > Location & security, there's a setting called "Use wireless networks". If you have not activated this one you should try to. This will come with data charges though so make sure to check with your network operator if you're not sure how that's being charged on your subscription.
Let me know.

Xperia S is a great device, so I would not want to change my phone, but this program is important to me. I've been using Sports Tracker for Nokia E66 phone in the previous years and there is a running statistics in a safe place.
I have a Wifi setting is on.
The same route when the GPS work properly.
harri,
I use Sports Tracker and have found it to be 99% accurate, in fact a lot more accurate than my previous phone, which used to produce tracks like yours.
How many times have you used it?
Ian
How many times is the track off?
For two weeks I have used about 10 times. 3-4 times become bad mistakes.
(about 600 times in the last three years).
How was your previous phone for accuracy?
Did it have a similar problem.... does the issue hppen at different times of the day?
I havent a problem before, maybe 98% accurate.
Usually i have ran morning or evening but first picture: start time is 25.4.2012 16:06 and second picture: start time is 27.4.2012 13:53
Sports tracker showed first pictures trip length 28.5 km but I have fixed mistake. Right length is 22.5 km.
Hello all,
What has to be made clear here is that Sony have released new builds to address this issue but your phone operator has to provide this to you after various tweeks.
I am in the UK and with Three mobile. I had the exact same problem and it was Three mobile who were delaying my update as they have to tweek the new build/software. Three mobile also apparently did not have a clue there was an issue! Sure!
Three mobile I beleive today or yesterday released version 6.0.A.3.73 for Sony Experia S which should finally address the issue. I have updated my phone but have yet to check the GPS. I will post an update later.
Ian
Hi,
This is very interesting as i am a Three user in the uk and am having problems with not only my gps on my Experia S, but the appalling customer service with Three.
Three have already swapped my handset and that one had the same problem from day one.
I have taken legal advice over this and they will be expecting a letter from my solicitor as they have sold me a phone that is not fit for purpose.
I was on the phone to customer services only yesterday (10/5/12) to ask them to cancel mr contract as advised by my solicitor which was flatly refused and unbelievably they told me to take the phone back to the store to be repaired by there engineer!!!
I have had the phone for six weeks and after going back to the store twice and spending many hours speaking to Three and my solicitors they come up with this update
Do Three really know what they are doing or are they just good at fobbing there customers off and having total disrespect for them.
All this after being a loyal customer to them for over 10 years with a phone and Internet dongle contracts.
