Xperia Ray problem receiving text messages

I've been having some issues with my xperia ray with random restarts, freezing, not receiving sms etc. I used the Sony Pc companion and repaired the phone. Now it seems to be working fine except from the sms. Most of the time it's ok, but sometimes people are sending me messages and I never receive them. I tried inserting my sim card in another phone, and sending other messages to myslef in order to receive the previous one but I couldn't receive it. Is this a problem with the phone or my sercice providor? Is anyone else having this issue?

Have you tried a different SIM card in the Xperia Ray? as this would be the first thing to try to clarify where the fault lies.

No I haven't. But this happens once every few days, I receive about 95% of my sms. So even if I try another sim card and try to send a message to that one, I will probably receive it.

I tried a few things with the settings in xperia ray. In network mode I have selected WCDMA preferred/GSM

Could it be this one? what's the difference between WCDMA and GSM?

i think the messaging problem exits because of shortage of RAM due to ICS. i also facing the same problem. when i'm messaging and running other apps(music, browser) simultanousy the messaging app closes. then again i have to start it. if i dont start it again i have the message receiving problem.

then the difference between wcdma and gsm is..

to make it short and sweet, wcdma is 3g and gsm is 2g

Thanks for the info! I haven't noticed if that is the case for me... I'll keep it in mind...

Do you receive the messages after you restart the messaging app? I never receive them.

till now i have not faced any loss of messages. the only thing i have noticed is, suddenly 3-4 messages come and if u check the date/time of the messages it will be 2 -3 hours prior to the current time.

Got same problem, hope it will be fixed... Tried to repair my phone with SE software, but problem is still there. Phone randomly restarts (usually when I'm using facebook or messenger), and big delay with SMS messages.

So is anyone from Sony support going to help us with a fix on this one? It's quite a serious problem. I never had such a problem with my previous phones, just some delays on messages sometimes, but eventually I would receive them. Now some messages never get to me and people think I receive them and the only reason we discover I never got their text is randomly. Who knows how many messages I don't know about are lost....It's really frustrating!

Similar problem, it began happening one or two weeks ago. Phone won't receive texts for a few days at a time, then receives them all at once.

I haven't been able to use it for a few days now, so I finally tried a factory reset. Backed up everything important to my sd card and reset the phone.

It worked, I received my messages, and I can send/receive them for now. Hopefully the problem will stay fixed, I don't like losing all my user preferences.
