I have noticed something odd with the wifi on my phone and wondered if anyone else had this.
The phone will sometimes not connect to my home wifi router, it see's it, it shows up the in the list, but if I long press and select connect, it just says Scanning.... disconnected, and refuses to connect to it.
Yet other times it will connect automatically just fine.
I have checked for other wifi signals and there are other 'neighbouring' routers around, but they are all on lower channels like 1,2 and I have set my router as far away as possible to them on 11. My Wii, PS3, HP Printer and Android tablet, have no trouble at all with my router and connect fine, but the phone will not.
I have tried restarting the router, that sometimes solves it, but then in the morning, we are back to not connecting again, I've tried deleting the wifi settings from the phone and putting them in again and password, that doesn't work either.
Why is this? how can I solve it? I don't want to keep running up Data costs because the phone will not connect to my home wifi.
Hello there..
I tried all the applications like Wifi Fixer, Blade Wifi etc, but with no results.
Finally, I've found a solution. By MAC IP filtering, the device gets direct access to the Router and the WiFi just works fine.
I just played a hunch and it got success. Pro's MAC address is accessible from the WiFi menu (Advanced) which needs to be entered in the Router's configuration settings.
After giving the command to "Connect", it gave the message, "Obtaining IP address" and finally got connected...
Whoa!
Please pass this message on and post here if that works...:)
That would have been something specific to your own router's setup - MAC filtering is not enabled by default on most routers so this is unlikely to be a problem for most people - the random disconnect issue that many people are experiencing is likely a separate issue unrelated to MAC filtering.
I do wonder why this thread is marked as resolved?
Clearly the problem remains!
Dose anyone know if the wifi creats a connection log and where to find this?
Sorry for the confusion. We tend to mark these as "assumed Answered" when a Moderator posts a reply as the post is still visible but is being monitored by one of us and will continue to be so until it is marked as answered by the OP.
In regards to the continued problem you are facing, I can see you have tried many of the possible fixes, however have you updated the routers firmware?
