Hi,
Recently bought a Xperia Pro from Fido.ca.
Unlock it and put a Rogers sim card in.
Everything is working fine, including internet browsing using either 3G data or Wifi at home.
However, as soon as the Portable Wi-Fi hotspot is enabled, the 3G data internet access just stops working.
I still see the 3G indicator but any apps using internet cannot connect.
A laptop appears connected to the hotspot but cannot access internet.
Basically, the phone's internet access just stop working after hotspot is enabled.
As soon as hotspot is disabled, apps on the phone can use internet right away.
Would that be some settings I miss?

Hi, suggest you check with your Network Operator regarding this hotspot (tethering) issue. I have heard that some Network Operator disable this feature.
Before using the Xperia pro, I was using a Samsung Gio, unlocked from Bell.
I passed it to my son to use on a fido plan, so I can use the newer Xperia pro with Rogers.
If I put my Rogers SIM card back in the Samsung Gio, it works perfectly with hotspot enabled.
How could the 3G data access be blocked on the Xperia pro as soon as hotspot is enabled?
That basically mean data sharing is not possible with Xperia pro, but Samsung Gio is OK.
Both have Android 2.3.4.
Does anyone have success with the hotspot function on Xperia phones on the Rogers network?
Ah .... glad that you have decided to furnish more info.
Tethering & Portable Hotspot feature is absolutely working on the Xperia phones. Have you tested with the other SIM Card (provided it has a data plan) in your Xperia Pro? Have you check with your Network Operator (just to confirm)?
If it is a software issue, software repair should fix this problem.
I have the same problem: ...
Update: mentioned problem was my fault. I had some personal settings that I forgot on my PC that was not allowing thetering. Sorry for confusion
Sounds like something Rogers have requested to be added for their specific firmware.
Try flashing a generic firmware or one from another region:
