Xperia Play r800i, no sim card after a firmware update

I hope I can find a solution here, otherwise I'll lose my mind. Anyway the problem is, I upgraded my firmware with PC Companion.

I have been using my Xperia without any problem till the update for a year. After the update I placed my sim card, it asked for SIM PIN and

the pin accepted. I waited for the region, chose it, then it poped out Please insert SIM and restart. I tried everything, reseat the SIM,

checked my SIM, it is fine with other mobiles, wiped it, as I said before it asks for pin, then I went through changing the pin number,

it said there is no sim card. I am totaly confused. What is wrong with it. What shall I do to make it work again? Please help me with it !

Everything went OK during the update and I tried one more update because it was told in one of the talksonymobile.com discussions. It seems something goes wrong while reading card ( but how about the PIN it asks for ? ) or something like that... I'm going to lose my mind. I need my mobile very much in these days. Looking forward hearing from you soon. Thanks in advance.  Goreme Pierro

P.S.  ( I did *#*#7378423#*#* it says for the boot loader "no" and in the SIM Lock: everything is with a value  "0" and [ ] empty. )

I found an article somewhere. It says something like this . Can this be a solution ? It says:

The problem here is simple… The phone is looking for a number on the sim. This is a special field which the phone expects to find. When it is not there it throws up an error. It appears that only sony phones use this field for any purpose and for reasons only known only to Sony you cannot edit this field with a 400 pound smart phone. The quick fix is to put the sim in an older phone and try to update the field. You are look ing for some reference to “your number” or “special number”. However it appears that only some phones will do the trick. People have reported success with other Sony phones and I can confirm that a Blckbrry will do it. Goto settings>sim>advanced and you will see the blank number field. Fill this with your own number and save it. Put sim back into xperia and you should have got rid of the error. Sorted.

No idea about the article? But there is no reason apart from the update, of my phone's problem. ( At least it seems . )

You must be busy. Anyway thanks for the help. I must search a little bit more. Because not only with my PLAY but also on other models of XPERIA people having exactly the same problems. I will search them first and see their ways...

Have a nice day.

Hi,

You said you have updated to a firmware. So which firmware version you have updated?

If you have updated using SUS and still no luck, then this might be a hardware issue between the SIM and the device as Uli already said.

I would say, rather trying any solution posted on the web, you may contact your local SONY service center, since it is a hardware issue. Because most of the software bug or firmware bug get resolved by SUS repair.

And one more thing, Your device is under any contract by your Carrier network?

Cause my device isn't under any carrier and it never asks for any PIN.

Also sometimes SIM card can not detected for multiple reasons. I had a problem once like this, so i took the SIM card to my Network operator service center, and they reset the SIM using their own software, after then it is working fine.

SO you may check that also, if possible.

Auni, Thanks for sharing your experience. Mine is Orange and my mobile is a non contract phone. I tried couple of SIM cards.Still no sim card. And the PIN is for the SIM card, 4 digit security code. What I'm saying is, it sees the sim card is OK when you power on the device, then after dialing the password PIN, no sim card appears. Very strange. But so many XPERIA users are sruggling for this problem. There must be a solution apart from a hardware issue. You upgrade a phone then a hardware issue ?!
