Xperia Play Internet not working (wifi and 3g)

My phone will not go on the internet, either by 3g or wifi. It does not even show the 3g icon. the wifi does have internet access and works perfectly fine on every computer and mobile connected except for my phone.

It can connect to the wifi network without any issues, but it cannot go onto the internet. It has a full signal.

Phoning and texts work fine.

I have reset the phone to factory settings. This wiped the SD card even though I never told it to - and it also cannot import my sim contacts (I backed them up again before resetting the phone) except those which were on there from my carrier.

The internet was working perfectly fine last night, and was working during the night.

The phone has not been dropped or anything.

Any suggestions?

finished updating my adroid without backup because backup steps require internet (which i cant have).

android version 2.3.4

build no. 4.0.2.A.0.42

installed default games crashes but its ok because internet has loads of games out there---that is if after what i have done will make my phone work normally---but the wifi issue is still unresolved :'(
PS:
1. wifi connection ok but no internet.
2. cant connect to hidden SSID.

I was having the same problem aswell... i was about to throw it away actually but in my case what i did for:

3G connection: Settings>Sony Ericson (very top option)> Internet Settings

      -I made sure it was connected to the computer and all softwares are installed on my computer, after a few moments later I saw an H symbol with an arrow going up and down beside the signal bar.

Wifi: i made sure the settings on my router was on wide ban channel 8 standard ban 6

     - my previous settings on my router was wide ban 13 and standard ban on 11

i seem to have another shade of your problem,bought this phone yesterday and cant connect with my carrier after recieving settings,they disappear,input them manually and all i see in an H above and the download arrows.am stuck any one helping you will help me out too.  Fingers crossed
