Xperia Play Internet not working (wifi and 3g)

My phone will not go on the internet, either by 3g or wifi. It does not even show the 3g icon. the wifi does have internet access and works perfectly fine on every computer and mobile connected except for my phone.

It can connect to the wifi network without any issues, but it cannot go onto the internet. It has a full signal.

Phoning and texts work fine.

I have reset the phone to factory settings. This wiped the SD card even though I never told it to - and it also cannot import my sim contacts (I backed them up again before resetting the phone) except those which were on there from my carrier.

The internet was working perfectly fine last night, and was working during the night.

The phone has not been dropped or anything.

Any suggestions?

Hi there, I would suggest updating the phone to latest version of Android which is version 2.3.3 using Sony Ericsson Update Service if you have not already sone so. I am using Android 2.3.3 and have not experienced any connectivity issues.

I should of mentioned I am using the latest versions from the Sony Ericsson updates, sorry I forgot about that.

Hi, I have the same problem, I got my phone last night It was bought in the U.S At&t and was brought here in the philippines, we unlocked it. It was perfectly working until this morning, I tried to update my phone software from 2.3.3 to 2.3.4 I installed the PC Companion on my pc, Then connected the phone thru my oc then it prompts me that it has the latest version which is still 2.3.3 and then when I tried to connect through wifi, it does connect and the browser is not working anymore, even using the mobile network. This is really frustrating, I even went to the Service Center of Sony Ericson here, and they are really discouraging. That if they try to configure the phone, something else might not work properly.

Please I need help on this phone, this phone has not lasted a day with me yet.

One question though, does any other internet related app on the phone works or is it just the browser?

im from philippines and im not a rich kid, i earn some money just buy something and finally decided to buy my first android--xperia play. i bought this the other day and i spent my whole day yesterday just to configure my router yet problem still unsolved, thinking that my xperia play is perfect. my pc and laptop have no problem of wifi, most advise is to update the phone's version but how can i update my phone without internet in the first place????? but as i searched the net i found out that i am not the only one suffering this curse. please tell me that i did not make a wrong decision to buy sony ericsson product because im gonna kill myself :'(

it'll be great if you create a new thread and you post the problem, also make sure to add android version and build number (settings -> about phone)
