Sorry I don't quite understand, by signals do you mean you are unable to access the internet or are you unable to access the network?

This is occurring on all Verizon Xperia Plays that updated to 2.3.4. Automatic syncing won't work (have to sync manually) for stuff like GMail since the signal (Wifi/3G and cell strength) icons stay gray. You might be able to get around the Google Talk issues with a Jabber client of some sort, but I haven't tried this sort of thing.

Jake - you can't be serious with your response and if you are I really question whether you work for Sony Xperia Support.  If you do the smallest amount of google research you will see that the Android 2.3.4 update sent out earlier this week to Verizon users has a major flaw/bug in it.  Specifically, many, many people have been complaining on many different forums that ever since the update, they cannot access the GTalk app.  When you try and connect, there is a message that pops up and says "cannot connect to server.  will retry shortly."  Additionally, the Gmail App no longer works correctly as it does not update automatically or allow for push notifications.  Finally, the bars that indicate what sort of service the phone has used to be green which meant that the phone was fully connected.  If those bars were gray, it meant you had no service and if the bars were white it meant that you had some limited service and connectivity.  Even since the update, may people are reporting poor connectivity and that there bars are white.

I really hope that this is not news to you and Sony as today is Thursday and people have been complaining about this since Sunday.  I myself have done so and received no response from
Sony.

Jake,

The Gtalk client is not communicating to the servers. this is preventing the OS from recognizing full Internet connectivity and changing the signal meters to green (WiFi or 3g)

Because GTalk is not working it has affected all of the automatic (timed) and push connections to Google services. Additionally I have been having issues with the data connection switching from WiFi to 3g. I can usually resolve that by going to settings>networks>Mobile and clearing and rechecking the Data enabled check box.

Also occasionally the phone is hanging when executing some apps (i click to open the app and it attempts to and then closes the app without an option to report) this can be resolved simply by restarting the phone.

yea the signal stays gray but who cares mine still connects to the internet and does everything its supposed to when it was green. Just because it stays gray doesnt mean anything. As long as it does wat its supposed to do which mine does who cares about wat color the bars are
