Hello All,
Hope somebody can help me understand if the below is an issue and how to correct.
I have the sony Xperia P with ICE installed. When I connect via wirless connection to my Sony Blu-ray player (BDP-S470 with latest firmware) the "play on device" feature is not displaying the blu-ray player as a device to play on?
Also from the blu-ray player I am unable to view videos stored on my Xperia P?
Thanks in advance for your feedback and best regards,
Craig
You might need UPnP turned on and auto-configurable to work. Do you have another device that is DLNA certified such as a PS3 or a TV?
Hi Miltos95
Firstly thanks for your reply.
Yes UPnP is enabled on the router and every thing seems to work fine when connecting to the TV (also sony tv), when I configure Windows 7 pc Blu-ray player has no issue on playing content.
but this is not the case for the phone. After posting here I have tried reconnecting to Blu-ray player with phone and now I am able to view music thats on the phone and pictures, however no videos. In regards to the "play on device" feature I am unable to display photos's, play music and videos.
So I guess that it can only mean that the DLNA is not fully compatiabile with the sony BDP-S470 blu-ray payer (or am I missing something?)
Thanks again for you reply really appreciate it and best regards,
Craig
Yeah, the Blu-ray might be DLNA compatible but it cannot play directly the content that the Phone sends via WiFi Direct.
It's the same for the PlayStation 3 i own, i can browse the contents on my Phone but the PS3 doesn't support WiFi Direct to allow the Phone to directly send the media i want :smileywink:.
Here's a video so you can understand what i mean.

Hello Miltos95
Thanks for all your help regarding this matter.
I think i need to just give up on this "play on device feature", starting to realy get on my nervs (I just dont have a clue why even when I record a video from the phone it is unable to play it on the TV as I just recieve error "file format not supported" (while the TV plays the same video via stream from wmp 12 and via USB nativley).
Whish other people best of luck with this and hope you have better success than me.(Sony makes it seem so flawless on there advertisments, but then that why they are adverts).
Slowly loozing faith in this hole degitial networks aliance and sony.
regretfuly Craig
Is your TV capable of geting content via WiFi Direct like on the Video? If not then i have bad news for your mate... Even if it is DLNA certified that doesn't mean that it does support content sharing via WiFi Direct.
What are you trying to play on the TV and shows "file format not supported"? Are you trying to stream it via DLNA directly from the Phone (Using "Connected Devices")?
Also WMP converts the video to a capable format that it's compatible with your TV. About the USB i don't know. What's the format of the media you are trying to play?
