Xperia Miro headphone issue

My xperia miro doesn't detect the headphones from last week onwards. But when it detects the headphones(this happens about 5% from the total attempts. Otherwise the phone doesn't detect the headphones), the phone is still stuck in the headphone mode for some hours even after the headphones were taken off.(eg;- no ringing, radio is working without headphones etc...). How to solve this problem???

Try reinstalling the update using Sony Update Service

http://www.sonymobile.com/gb/tools/update-service/

If that doesn't help then try using other headset.
If still doesn't help then its a hardware problem.
