Xperia m4 overheated and unresponsive

So I left my phone to charge overnight, woke up and it now has an orange light on the notification led above the screen.

The top quarter of the phone is warm to the touch and will not turn on. I have tried holding down the power and volume down button to restart it and nothing happens.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated, this is the third day I have had this phone.

Do you mean that you cannot see anything on the screen? I suggest that you hold the ON/OFF + volume up(+) (instead of volume down) button for 5-10 seconds, this should force a shutdown of your device. If the phone vibrates, try to power it on as normal by holding the ON/OFF button.

Thank you for the advice, after leaving the phone in a draughty area for a while it has cooled and is now simply low on battery.
If it doesnt work after I charge it now then I will try your suggestion.
