Xperia M2 vey slow despite 1.5GB of available memory

My Xperia M2 has become very slow despite showing 1.5GB of available internal memory.

The rest of the internal memory is taken up by 2.3GB apps, 5.16MB of downloads, 3.55MB cache and 844MB misc (of which 742MB is 'recovery', which was the last system update). It's also showing 386MB of pictures and videos, despite the fact that I moved all of these to my external SD card and double checked with Filecommander that this was the case.

So basically most of the phone memory has been taken up by phone system and automatic app updates.

So it looks like once again I will be forced to replace a Sony phone because after less than two years it doesn't have enough capacity to run the obligatory software updates. Frustrating because I'm still a couple of months off the end of this contract.

Is there a simple solution?

unfortunately 1.5Gb free is already a bit on the low side already, I suggest to remove apps that are not essential,. for example,. Facebook and FB messenger can be acess in google chrome instead. also check your background task/apps that are running in the background. settings>developer>running services

Hi @PhilPetrol,

Check to see if your phone is still performing poorly in safe mode. If it is not, then the issue will be a third party app on your device. If it is, then I would recommend you backup and then run a software repair using Xperia Companion.
