Xperia go SD Memory Card not working does not show up in Win Explorer

Hi,

I am using a Xperia go with an extra SD memory card. I can access the card from the phone.

When I am connecting to my Win7 PC (64 bit) via usb only the internal phone memory can be accessed from the windows explorer. The extra SD Memory does not show up.

I have tried different cables, different USB ports - still the same. I removed all usb device drivers via usbdeview and let windows reinstall all usb devices - still the same.

On my second Win7 PC (32 bit) everything works as expected. The extra sd card shows up in the explorer.

I noticed the windows dialog for the installation of the device drivers on my 64 bit system only shows the installation of the MTP driver. On the 32 bit system four device drivers (one of them the MTP driver, the three others are usb mass storage related) are installed.

Hmm, seems very strange. Tried this out on my Win7 x64 and it worked just fine to access both internal and SD card. Have you checked the device manager to see if all USB drivers installed correctly?

Hi,

I have the same problem on my work computer running Win7 x32 (it's a Lenovo ThinkPad x220). But on the computer at home, an Asus old Laptop running Win XP SP3 I can access the SD-card fine. Sony PC Companion can´t access my SD-card on my work-computer but on my old Laptop it also works fine.

However I can see the SD-card in Computer Management on the Win7 machine but without a drive letter. It only says "Disk 1 Removeable 14,84 GB Online" and if I try to mount it the way that is described here below I only get a message (when I try to click "Change Drive Letter and Path") that the action could not be performed because the disc managemants consolview is not updated. But it dosen't help to update the consolview and if I restart the computer I end up in the same place.

"Open Computer Management by clicking the Start button Picture of the Start button, clicking Control Panel, clicking System and Maintenance, clicking Administrative Tools, and then double-clicking Computer Management.Administrator permission required If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

  •   In the Navigation pane, under Storage, click Disk Management.
  •   Right-click the drive that you want to mount, and then click Change Drive Letter and Path.
  •   Click Add, click Mount in this NTFS folder, and then either type the path to an empty folder on an NTFS drive or click Browse to locate it, and then click OK.
  •   Click OK again."

I hope that this will help to find the solution to the problem. Thanks for a very nice phone in all other ways 🙂

I was very hopefull that you have found the solution for my problem. But the SD card doesn't even show up in the Disk Management snap in.

If it works on the 2nd PC it seems like there is something wrong on you Win7(32bit) PC. Do you get any sign of the phone being connected to the PC in the device manager? Normally if it doesn't work properly you get some kind of error in it.

I'm Sorry that I coldn't give you a solution for the problem. I think it must be some kind of problem with the USB drivers for the SD-card in Win 7.

Hi Samuel! I think there is some kind of problem with the USB drivers. Is there any way too uninstall these drivers and then install them back again?

I am building a new computer with Win 7 x64 and was eager to test if I could access my SD-card and I could but then I made a update for the USB-drivers and then I can't access my SD-card anymore. Please help me!

In the device manager, look for the "Portable devices" (might be named handheld devices) and you should find Xperia Go. Right click Xperia Go and choose uninstall. Disconnect the phone and plug it back in, and the computer should reinstall the drivers as it recognizes the phone as a new device.

Thanks Samuel! It worked, but it didn't was under "Portable devices", it was under "Storage devices" and there was an unknown device that I could uninstall. Then I disconnected the phone and plugged it back in again and voila, there it was, my SD card!

Many thanks!

I hope this works for you to ralfkret 🙂

If it dosn't, I also found that my phone don't automatically connect my SD-card when I connect the phone to my computer. I have to open (drag down) the notification panel and connect the SD-card there. Maybe you allready tried this, just a hint 🙂
